Job Description
The Behavioral Health Clinician will provide inpatient/outpatient and community care for clients and families across the continuum of care. You will assure access, provide assessments, coordinate treatment plans, and determine the level of care. In this role, you will independently perform behavioral health services, substance use services, and crisis intervention services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct client care using individual, couple, group, and family therapy specific to each client's needs as indicated on the treatment plan.
- Prepare appropriate medical documentation to meet regulatory requirements of licensing and third-party agencies.
- Assess and plan care by evaluating the psychiatric and psychosocial needs of the client, organizing and prioritizing care and treatment, and advocating appropriate resources.
- Provide in-home clinical services and/or direct crisis intervention to clients and families in multiple sites.
- Continuously educate clients and family members, referring them to appropriate levels of care, support groups, and other available resources.
- Work effectively across programs for clients with both mental health and substance use disorders.
- Negotiate level of care and length of stay with managed care companies, re-evaluating client's needs and informing third-party payers of ongoing changes.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to provide integrated healthcare delivery to clients and families.
- Conduct Emergency Evaluations for clients in the community if required.
- Participate in administrative activities, team meetings, clinical supervision, and staff education.
- Assume responsibility for self-improvement by identifying and seeking resources to meet own learning needs.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned by Program Manager.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
- Three years' experience providing direct services to psychiatric patients and the substance use population.
- Previous experience in assessment, diagnosis, individual/group therapy, and crisis intervention.
- Active CT License in Social Work, Professional Counseling, Alcohol & Drug Counselor, Marital & Family Therapy.
