Job Description

In this role, you will:

  • Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Ensure the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies.
  • Assist the surgeon during the operation.
  • Clean the operating room and properly route equipment and used material.
  • Report to the Manager.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Completion of a surgical technician program.
  • Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • CPR and BLS validation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
  • Knowledge and practice of basic care and patient safety concepts.
  • Application of the principles of asepsis in a manner that provides optimal patient care.
  • Knowledge of various surgical procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon's needs and recognize problems encountered during surgery.
  • Knowledge of OR emergency situations.
