Hartford HealthCare is seeking a motivated and qualified Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Outpatient Rehab team on a per diem basis. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic multidisciplinary clinic, supporting a busy caseload. We are looking for an SLP with a strong interest and experience in neurogenic conditions, such as Parkinson’s Disease, stroke, and TBI. Job Description

As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) at Hartford HealthCare, you will work independently to evaluate patients' level of function and develop individualized treatment goals and plans. You will provide Speech Language Therapy services to identify, restore, and rehabilitate disorders of communication, cognition, and swallowing, ensuring the safety and independence of our patients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing thorough evaluations of patients' speech, language, and hearing disorders
  • Establishing measurable goals based on patient needs
  • Implementing and delivering patient care through selected activities and exercises
  • Educating patients and caregivers about treatment and equipment use
  • Participating in patient transition planning and discharge planning

Responsibilities

  • Upon Physician referral, perform thorough evaluation of patient’s oral-motor strength/agility, motor speech, voice, deglutition, auditory comprehension, reading comprehension, verbal expression, written expression, memory, problem-solving, and attention.
  • Establish measurable goals with the patient/family based on appropriate patient care protocols and critical paths in order to meet patient needs.
  • Implement, deliver, and delegate patient care by utilizing appropriate interventions and age-specific interventions and treatments through selected activities and exercises.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education regarding treatment, precautions, and equipment use.
  • Participate in patient transition planning and/or patient discharge planning.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree, Clinical Doctorate, or PhD in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Open to new graduates.
  • Previous experience as a Speech Language Pathologist is preferred.
  • Current State of Connecticut license in Speech Language Pathology or meets minimum requirements for a Supervised Professional Experience (SPE) plan.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) with passing score on the national SLP Praxis® exam or Approved Clinical Fellowship plan from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
