Position Summary

• Provide evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

Position Responsibilities

• Assess patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop personalized care plans.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans, record and communicate patient conditions.
• Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
• Evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications, and treatments based on patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families about their health conditions, provide information about support groups and available programs.
• Assess patient conditions to identify the most appropriate mode of therapy.
• Monitor and evaluate therapy effectiveness, suggest alternatives when necessary.
• Maintain infection control policies related to patient care.
• Demonstrate competency in all equipment utilized.
• Perform baseline pulmonary function screening and weaning parameters.
• Administer safely medications related to respiratory diseases.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Therapist credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Red Cross obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Education:
  • Completion of a Respiratory Care Program.
• Work Experience:
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience. Will consider new graduates.
