Position Summary
- Provide evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
Position Responsibilities
- Assess patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop personalized care plans.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans, record and communicate patient conditions.
- Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
- Evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications, and treatments based on patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families about their health conditions, provide information about support groups and available programs.
- Assess patient conditions to identify the most appropriate mode of therapy.
- Monitor and evaluate therapy effectiveness, suggest alternatives when necessary.
- Maintain infection control policies related to patient care.
- Demonstrate competency in all equipment utilized.
- Perform baseline pulmonary function screening and weaning parameters.
- Administer safely medications related to respiratory diseases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Licensed Respiratory Care Therapist credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Red Cross obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Education:
- Completion of a Respiratory Care Program.
- Work Experience:
- 6 months to 1 year of experience. Will consider new graduates.
