Position Summary

  • Provide evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assess patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plan, record and communicate patient condition, and perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families about the health condition, provide information about support groups, and other available programs.
  • Assess patient's conditions to identify the most appropriate mode of therapy and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of therapy, suggesting alternatives when appropriate.
  • Maintain infection control policies related to patient care and demonstrate competency on all equipment utilized.
  • Perform baseline pulmonary function screening and weaning parameters and safely administer medications related to respiratory diseases.

Qualifications

  • Required Credential(s):
    • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
    • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
    • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Red Cross.
  • Education: Completion of a Respiratory Care Program.
  • Work Experience: 6 months to 1 year. Will consider new graduate.
