Position Summary
As a Respiratory Therapist RRT, you will be responsible for assessing patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and developing individualized care plans based on diagnosis. You will implement and monitor patient care plans, perform advanced respiratory care modalities, and evaluate the effectiveness of therapy. Additionally, you will educate patients and their families about their health condition and provide information about community support groups.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
- Implement and monitor patient care plan, recording and communicating patient condition.
- Perform advanced respiratory care modalities and evaluate respiratory practice, medication administration, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families about their health condition and available support programs.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of therapy, suggesting alternatives when necessary.
- Maintain infection control policies related to patient care and demonstrate competency in all equipment utilized.
- Perform baseline pulmonary function screening and weaning parameters.
- Safely administer medications related to respiratory diseases.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credential from the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
- Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
- Completion of a Respiratory Care Program.
- 6 months to 1 year of experience preferred (will consider new graduates).
