Description:
Located in Windham County, CT, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut for over 118 years. It is home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties and offers LIFE STAR helicopter services. As a Respiratory Therapist at Backus Hospital, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients. Your responsibilities will include administering oxygen and other medical gases, performing aerosolized medication administration, utilizing positive pressure breathing devices, and operating ventilators and resuscitation devices. You will also be responsible for conducting pulmonary diagnostic procedures and assessments.
As an integral member of our healthcare team, you will demonstrate efficiency in clinical and critical care settings, communicate effectively, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. You will have the opportunity to further develop your skills and expertise through additional training and certification courses in specialized clinical areas.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree from an AMA approved Respiratory program
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) granted by The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- State of CT Respiratory Care Practitioner license
- BLS certification
