Overview

Encompass Health is currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing respiratory therapy treatment and patient care. This position requires adherence to hospital, state, professional, and federal regulations and guidelines. Your work will contribute to creating an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission of providing patient-centered care in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy treatment to patients in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
• Assess patients' respiratory status and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Administer medication and therapies as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor and evaluate patient response to therapy and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Educate patients and their families on respiratory therapy techniques and self-care measures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care.

Requirements

• Current State License in Respiratory Therapy.
• CPR certification.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of hospital experience in Respiratory Therapy.
• Proficiency in operating general office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, and computer.
• Good visual acuity and effective communication skills.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and push/pull a minimum of 30 pounds.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking.
• Excellent coordination, decision-making, and time management skills.

Working Conditions

• This position is based in a temperature-controlled, smoke-free indoor environment, with occasional outdoor exposure.
• There may be potential exposure to blood and body fluids in certain situations.
• The workplace is handicapped accessible.
• Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, and night shifts as needed.
• The ability to work independently without supervision.
• Occasional work under stressful circumstances.
