Position Summary

As a Respiratory Therapist CRT, you will evaluate and provide care to patients with respiratory insufficiencies. This includes assessing patients for appropriate treatment, developing care plans based on diagnoses, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, and performing advanced respiratory care modalities. You will also educate patients and their families about their health conditions and provide information about community support groups and available programs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assess patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment based on diagnosis
  • Develop care plans and monitor patients' conditions
  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment effectiveness
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and available support programs
  • Assess patients' conditions to determine the most appropriate mode of therapy
  • Monitor and evaluate therapy effectiveness and suggest alternatives when appropriate
  • Maintain infection control policies related to patient care
  • Demonstrate competency on all equipment utilized
  • Perform baseline pulmonary function screening and weaning parameters
  • Safely administer medications related to respiratory diseases

Qualifications

  • Licensure / Certification / Registration:
    • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Connecticut Department of Public Health
    • Certified BLS Provider from the American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Certified BLS Provider from the American Red Cross
  • Education: Completion of a Respiratory Care Program
  • Experience: 6 months to 1 year (new graduates will be considered)
