As a Radiologic Technologist, you'll play a vital role in diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures, helping to diagnose and treat patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures in various settings, including ambulatory and acute care, by positioning patients, operating diagnostic x-ray equipment, and providing patient care during imaging exams.
  • Produce high-quality images by assessing patient age and diagnosis, ensuring accurate positioning and utilizing appropriate exposure factors.
  • Minimize radiation exposure to patients, self, and others by practicing appropriate radiation protection techniques and adhering to safety standards and policies.
  • Input procedural information into electronic medical records to capture essential information regarding exams and provide relevant clinical details.
  • Obtain patient information, including lab values and medication usage, ensuring the request for the exam aligns with the reason for the exam.
  • Explain procedures to patients, address their concerns, and maintain a safe work environment by following infection control techniques and ALARA principles.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment according to performance standards, perform quality assurance testing on equipment, and report any malfunctions.
  • Stay up to date with clinical proficiency and participate in department quality, safety, and compliance initiatives.
  • Provide clinical supervision and instruction to students as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiography program
  • Licensure: State of Connecticut Radiographer license, ARRT certification in Radiography, Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience with PACS and digital technology, knowledge of cross-section anatomy preferred, ability to read and understand instructions, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to multitask and prioritize, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
