Details:
Under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant will administer treatments and provide assistance in evaluating patient's level of function and determining treatment strategies. This position may involve working in inpatient, outpatient, home care, skilled nursing, or assisted living environments.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Physical Therapist with patient assessment, including testing for joint range of motion, muscle strength, and mobility status.
- Implement therapeutic techniques appropriate to the patient's needs and medical status.
- Communicate patient progress to the Physical Therapist and provide patient and caregiver education.
- Complete all documentation, including evaluation, care plan and goals, patient status and progress, visits, patient discharge summary, and patient care transition plan and summary.
- Assist with patient transition planning and coordination of care with other healthcare providers.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Current State of CT Physical Therapy Assistant license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home care positions.
- Previous experience in acute care or outpatient setting preferred.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of Physical Therapy.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with stress and exercise independent judgment.
