Job Description

Under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant provides treatments to patients in various settings such as inpatient, outpatient, home care, skilled nursing, or assisted living. You will work closely with the Physical Therapist to assess patients, administer therapeutic techniques, monitor progress, and educate patients and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Physical Therapist in patient assessment and testing for range of motion, muscle strength, and mobility status
• Perform therapeutic techniques according to treatment plans provided by the Physical Therapist
• Communicate patient progress to the Physical Therapist
• Provide patient and caregiver education regarding treatment and equipment use
• Complete documentation including evaluation, care plan, patient progress, and discharge summary
• Assist with patient transition planning and coordination of care with other providers

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
• Current State of CT Physical Therapy Assistant license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Previous experience in acute care or outpatient setting preferred
• Knowledge of principles and practices of Physical Therapy
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
