Responsibilities

• Assist the Physical Therapist in assessing patients by performing delegated duties, such as testing joint range of motion and muscle strength.
• Recognize physiological and age-related changes in patients and consult with the Physical Therapist and other healthcare team members.
• Administer therapeutic techniques appropriate to patients' needs and medical status, as directed by the Physical Therapist.
• Communicate patient progress to the Physical Therapist.
• Provide patient and caregiver education regarding treatment, precautions, and equipment use.
• Complete all necessary documentation, including evaluation, care plan, patient status, and progress.
• Assist with patient transition planning and coordination of care with other healthcare providers.

Qualifications

• Education & Training: Associates Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
• License/Certification: Current State of CT Physical Therapy Assistant license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS certification required (upon hire or within 30 days of hire)
• Experience: Previous experience in acute care or outpatient setting preferred
• Skills: Knowledge of principles and practices of Physical Therapy, excellent communication and organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to deal with stress and exercise independent judgment.
• Other: Valid motor vehicle operator's license, reliable personal automobile during business hours, and active automobile insurance coverage.
