Details

As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Hartford HealthCare, you will work under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist to administer physical therapy treatments to patients. Your role will involve assisting with patient assessments, providing therapeutic techniques, and delivering personalized care based on treatment plans. You will have the opportunity to work in various environments, including inpatient, outpatient, home care, skilled nursing, and assisted living.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Physical Therapist with patient assessments, including testing for joint range of motion, muscle strength, and mobility status.
  • Implement therapeutic techniques appropriate to patients' needs and medical status based on treatment plans.
  • Communicate patient progress to the Physical Therapist.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education regarding treatment, precautions, and equipment use.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including evaluation, care plans, patient status and progress, and patient discharge summaries.
  • Assist with patient transition planning and collaborate with other care providers and community resources.

Qualifications

  • Education & Training: Associates Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • License/Certification: Current State of CT Physical Therapy Assistant license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience: Previous experience in acute care or outpatient settings preferred
  • Skills: Knowledge of principles and practices of Physical Therapy, excellent communication and organizational skills, interpersonal skills, ability to deal effectively with stress and exercise independent judgment.
