As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist and administer physical therapy treatments to patients. You will provide assistance to the Physical Therapist by supplying objective measures for patient evaluation and treatment strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Physical Therapist with patient assessment by performing delegated duties, such as testing for joint range of motion and muscle strength
  • Implement treatment plans provided by the Physical Therapist and deliver patient care through appropriate interventions
  • Communicate patient progress to the Physical Therapist
  • Provide patient and caregiver education regarding treatment and equipment use
  • Complete all documentation, including evaluation, care plan, patient status, and progress
  • Assist with patient transition planning and coordinate care with other providers

Qualifications:

  • Education & Training: Associates Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • License/Certification: Current State of CT Physical Therapy Assistant license, Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Experience: Previous experience in acute care or outpatient setting preferred
  • Skills: Knowledge of principles and practices of Physical Therapy, excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to interact effectively with patients and co-workers
