  • Shift Details: 40 hours per week mix of day & evening shifts including rotating weekends & holidays

Backus Hospital, our facility in Eastern Connecticut, has been a trusted source of healthcare services for over 118 years. We are proud to be the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, equipped with LIFE STAR helicopter services. Our mission is to provide excellent healthcare to our communities through a continuum of services.

As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for the control, monitoring, and dispensing of medications to patients of all ages. Your role will involve supervising supportive personnel, optimizing drug therapy, providing direct patient care, ensuring the safety of drug therapy, and promoting effective communication between healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and associates to ensure safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of drugs
  • Design drug therapy and maximize positive outcomes
  • Provide direct patient care for pain management
  • Identify, prevent, and resolve adverse drug events
  • Participate in Health Care Team activities and facilitate effective patient care
  • Investigate and resolve drug and pharmacy-related problems
  • Document interventions, outcomes, and statistics
  • Meet age-specific patient needs
  • Periodically function as a charge pharmacist

Qualifications

  • Pharm.D. degree required
  • Current CT Pharmacist license or eligible within 45 days of hire
  • PGY-1 Pharmacy residency preferred
  • Prior experience with EPIC systems preferred
