As a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in our Community Endocrinology Office, your responsibilities will include conducting patient assessments, performing physical examinations, collecting clinical data, ordering and interpreting medical laboratory tests, diagnosing medical conditions, administering treatments and medications, and providing comprehensive patient care. You will collaborate with attending physicians, primary nurses, and other healthcare providers to deliver family-centered care that meets the unique needs of each patient.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced knowledge of anatomy, neurology, microbiology, physiology, psychology, pharmacology, gerontology, growth and development, medical terminology, and more to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnose medical conditions, order and interpret medical laboratory tests, and administer treatments and medications.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical reports, complete patient coding for effective billing, and manage medical supplies and instruments.
  • Serve as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts, ensuring optimal patient processing, treatment, and discharge.
  • Mentor new staff and physician assistant students, sharing your expertise and contributing to their professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Proficiency in computerized medical recordkeeping and billing systems.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • HIPAA compliance is essential in all aspects of the role.
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license upon hire.
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification upon hire.

Physical Demands

  • Standing, walking, and feeling are constant requirements of the role.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling may be frequent.
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching may occur occasionally.
  • Hand-eye coordination, repetitive motions, and fine motor skills are required.
