Backus Hospital, where the Oncology A2 unit is located, has been a trusted source of healthcare services in Eastern Connecticut for over 118 years. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties and provide our patients with specialized care using innovative technology.
In this role, you will work with a dedicated team of nursing and healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care to our patients. Your responsibilities will include coordinating patient care, providing leadership to the nursing staff, ensuring quality and service excellence, and promoting a healthy work environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee patient care activities
- Assign patient care tasks to qualified staff
- Support and mentor nursing staff
- Maintain performance standards and address challenging situations
- Monitor and ensure staff performance
- Promote and support a healthy work environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Master's Degree preferred)
- Current Connecticut License as a Registered Nurse
- Two or more years of experience in an Oncology unit
- Six months of Charge Nurse or supervisory experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain department-specific certifications
