Mazars is a globally integrated audit, tax and advisory firm with offices in over 100 countries - and we're making a name for ourselves here in Australia. The APAC Energy & Infrastructure team works with sponsors, investors and banks to create and maintain strong financial structures for projects. We apply this throughout the project lifecycle, from development and financial close through to the operating phases of projects. The team has built up an extensive track record in project finance transactions in over 30 markets, supporting investment funds, developers, global contractors and other sponsors and lenders.

Role: Deliver and help to develop financial modelling training courses across the Asia Pacific region from a base in Sydney. This role is part of the global financial modelling community, collaborating with teams from Singapore, London, Paris, Toronto, New York and Delhi on quality and course development. It sits within the Mazars APAC Energy and Infrastructure team, working alongside our model audit, model build and valuations teams to deliver value for our clients.

Examples of activities undertaken by the role include:

  • In-house training to a utility company in Melbourne or an investment banking team in Sydney
  • Public training courses to a range of project finance lenders, developers and advisors in Australia's major capital cities
  • Tailored acquisition and valuation training for capital advisors and lenders in Australia
  • A digital training course for a banking client with teams distributed across the Asia Pacific region
  • Development and delivery of webinars on topics of interest from project finance to financial modelling

Personal attributes:

  • Enjoy coaching and tutoring course participants and see them thrive
  • A keen interest in sharing financial modelling knowledge in blogs, social media and webinars
  • A collaborative spirit working daily with our team all over the world, and with significant interaction with Delhi, Singapore and Hong Kong (there are plenty of travel opportunities within Australia, APAC and globally)
  • An enthusiastic and genuine interest in financial modelling for project finance and infrastructure and a dedication to improving and spreading our financial modelling methodology
  • An open mindset for new cultures and locations, and travel across Australia and New Zealand for training courses
  • A strong desire to deliver the best possible service for our clients and an interest in business development to develop strong client relationships

A high level of confidence in financial modelling for PF/energy/infra is required but technical expertise is not the ultimate driver of success. Strong coaching and presentation skills are more important as you will be surrounded by a world-class financial modelling team that can solve any technical challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Tailoring and delivery of financial modelling training courses
  • Delivery of training courses online and in-person across Australia and various timezones in the APAC region
  • Post-course conversations and support to class participants
  • Manage and prepare a program of financial modelling tutorials, blogs and webinars
  • Using social media such as LinkedIn to promote Mazars, our services, training courses and learning materials
  • Utilize personal professional network to leverage new business and generate discussions to promote Mazars and our capabilities
  • Secure and deliver financial modelling presentations (marketing) to business schools, corporates and professional organizations
  • Collaborate with the wider team and global offices to develop new training courses based on client conversations and demand to grow our portfolio
  • Be proactive in maintaining and developing strong client relationships with an aim of developing business opportunities for wider Mazars services as well as training
  • Work closely with our training administration team to ensure class registrations, attendance and venue considerations are correctly managed
  • Contribute to technical discussions on our financial modelling methodology and refinement of our teaching materials in line with this
