Position: Director of Engineering/Sr. Director of Engineering
Location: Bangalore
Role Description
As the Number one Director of Engineering in Bangalore at ZapCom Group Inc, you will lead the engineering charge and work closely with product owners, architects, senior engineers, developers, and the company leadership team. You will be responsible for leading and scaling our engineering organization and act as a thought leader for the technical organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead a strong, geographically distributed team of developers (senior and junior) and architects in building products, prototypes, and project-specific bespoke solutions
- Collaborate with business functions and client engagement managers to ensure requirements are met satisfactorily
- Lead design discussions and drive documentation of critical decisions made in the journey of a product/project
- Encourage a healthy culture of open debate by fostering the latest thinking in key computer science topics pertinent to the company’s business
- Communicate effectively and unambiguously with all internal and external stakeholders
- Institute and enforce sound engineering processes that realize hygiene around all technical activities, including product specification translation, architecture, solution design, coding, testing, and maintenance with as much automation as possible
- Create and implement best practices to ensure efficient resource allocation
- Provide line management for all direct reports, complete annual reviews, and conduct performance management for the engineering team
- Mentor and grow a team of diverse individuals with differing specializations
Requirements
Applicants must have done all of the following:
- 15+ years of relevant experience with an advanced degree in Computer Science and Engineering
- Experience in building and delivering products and platforms at an enterprise scale
- Managed a team of software developers/engineers for at least 5 years
- Contributed towards a product as a senior developer/engineer or team lead for at least 3 years
- 3+ years as a Developer/Engineer with testing, automation, and production support experience
- Broad and deep technology background in building application software using multiple languages
- Experience in Cloud Migration and greenfield deployments
- Global experience and working with Global customers and understanding of global culture
The ideal candidate would also have one or more of the following:
- Experience being a team lead in a complex environment
- Delivered successful projects in a consulting engagement model
- Solid understanding of, though not an expert in, data and its analysis methods
- Experience managing IT/API/web/mobile applications and platforms
- Strong fundamental grasp of good software engineering practices
